Warning: Exploit attacks rise sharply in Vietnam

According to the latest cybersecurity report released by Kaspersky, businesses in Southeast Asia are facing a wave of increasingly complex high-tech attacks. Among these, exploiting software vulnerabilities for unauthorized access has become a preferred weapon for cybercriminals targeting organizations in Vietnam.
Exploit attacks - The widening dangerous gateway
An exploit attack is essentially a hacker leveraging unpatched bugs in software or operating systems to sneak into systems. In 2025, Southeast Asia recorded over 2 million such attacks. Notably, Vietnam ranked second in the region with 587,217 incidents, behind only Indonesia. Additionally, experts recorded millions of attacks via remote desktop protocol (RDP) through password scanning.
Security flaws in web browsers or server software are often top targets. When a vulnerability is successfully exploited, the attacker not only gains access but can also plant malware deeper into the internal network of the business.

Proactive defense strategy for businesses
To effectively prevent exploit attacks, businesses need a security checklist instead of relying solely on traditional antivirus software:
Standardize patching and IT support
Most successful exploits occur because old software has not been updated. A professional IT support process will ensure all endpoints are patched promptly according to manufacturer recommendations.
Build a safe backup storage
Maintain a habit of periodic data backup and store them completely separate from the internal network. Simultaneously, businesses need to regularly practice recovery procedures to be ready for emergency situations.
Build a steel shield with 24/7 monitoring systems
Establish a 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC): Owning a professional cybersecurity monitoring team helps detect early signs of unusual intrusion. Instead of letting hackers hide for months, the SOC system can identify and handle threats in just minutes.
Infrastructure management via Network Operations Center (NOC) systems: NOC services help monitor the health of all servers and lines, minimizing gaps arising from configuration errors or system overloads.

The increase in exploit attacks is evidence that cybersecurity is no longer an issue for the technical department alone. It is an insurance investment for the survival of the business. Proactively protecting systems today is the only way to maintain reputation and customer trust in a volatile digital era.
